Romans - Reflections

Paul began his letter to the Romans this way (outlined):
Subjects
Paul
- A slave of Christ Jesus
- A chosen apostle
- Set apart for the Good News
Gospel
- God promised it long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures.
- It is about God's Son.
God's Son
- Born into King David's family line.
- Shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead.
- He is Jesus Christ
- He is Lord to Paul and those to whom Paul was writing
Statements
Through Christ, God gave the apostles the privilege and assignment to guide people into the obedience of faith placed on the person of Jesus Christ.
The reason God wants the Gospel told is for people to believe and obey God, which brings glory to God.

What is your reaction to this introduction? Mine is as follows:

Is it too strong to say that the Gospel/Good News was and is God's focal accomplishment? He sacrificed His own son to accomplish it. He devised the plan at least as early as the fall of man and probably earlier. Regardless of the behavior of those in his plan (e.g., Jacob), he did what he needed to do to accomplish it.

Lord, I want the Gospel/Good News to be as precious and important to me as it is to you.
